Built with a fully discrete Class A design, it features a heavy nickel-core CineMag USA transformer in the signal path, which helps deliver a larger-than-life sound with a creamy top-end and a beefy mid-to-bottom response. Unlike many modern small diaphragm condensers that use transformerless technology to cut costs, the WA-84 embraces boutique components like Wima capacitors and a Fairchild FET to ensure maximum signal integrity.
This microphone is highly regarded for its smooth, natural frequency response and excellent off-axis rejection. It excels on a wide variety of sources, including acoustic guitars, pianos, strings, and drum overheads.
