The Technics SL-1200 is the most influential DJ turntable ever made. From its introduction in 1972 through its discontinuation in 2010 and its return in 2016, the SL-1200 has been the standard against which every other turntable in club and performance DJ use gets measured — and it has never been seriously displaced. The MK7 is the seventh generation of that platform, built on entirely newly developed components: a coreless direct-drive motor that eliminates the cogging that plagued earlier direct-drive designs, a newly engineered aluminum diecast platter, a redesigned high-rigidity chassis with high-damping insulators, and precision digital motor control that allows starting torque and brake speed to be adjusted independently across four levels. The result is a turntable that is more refined in rotation accuracy and more responsive to DJ technique than any previous SL-1200 — which is a meaningful statement given what the earlier generations were already capable of.
The aluminum S-shaped tonearm is newly developed for the MK7 with a high-sensitivity pivot bearing, a stylus illuminator using a high-brightness LED for cue work in dark environments, and a no-click pitch control with pitch reset. Speeds cover 33-1/3, 45, and 78 RPM, and a reverse play function is accessible by pressing Speed Selector and Start/Stop simultaneously. Gold-plated RCA terminals, detachable phono and ground cables, and a detachable power cord complete the connection setup. At 9.6kg the MK7 is a substantial, solid piece of hardware — this is not a lightweight consumer turntable, and it doesn't feel like one.

No stylus or cartridge is included — the headshell is present and ready for mounting your preferred cartridge.
