Bose 901 Series VI Direct/Reflecting Speaker System, Pair w/Pedestals & Active EQ - Used
The Bose 901 is one of the most iconic and debated speaker systems in audio history — and also one of the most beloved. Introduced in 1968 and refined through six series, the 901 is built around Bose's Direct/Reflecting technology: eight of the nine full-range 4.5-inch drivers face rearward, bouncing sound off the wall behind them, while one fires forward — a design Dr. Amar Bose developed from his research into how people actually hear live music. The result is a room-filling, enveloping soundstage that sounds great from virtually anywhere in the room rather than only in a narrow sweet spot. The Series VI, the final and most refined iteration of the design, features Acoustic Matrix enclosures with molded plastic internal bracing to reduce chamber noise and deliver tighter, better-defined bass. Power handling is rated at 10-450 watts RMS — these will work with a modest receiver or a serious amplifier.
The required Series VI Active Equalizer is included — an important note, since the 901 cannot be used without it, and the Series VI EQ is series-specific and not interchangeable with earlier models. The Bose PS-6 floor pedestals are also included, bringing the speakers to ear level and completing the classic 901 look.
This set has been kept in boxes when not in use and is in excellent cosmetic shape throughout. Everything is present and functional.
