Mollenhauer Kynseker Soprano Recorder, Hardshell Case - Used - Excellent
The Mollenhauer Kynseker series is one of the workshop's most celebrated achievements — a complete consort of Renaissance recorders based on originals by Hieronymus F. Kynseker (1636-1686) held at the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg. Faithful to the originals in form, volume, and character, the Kynseker instruments feature a narrow arched windway, a strong and distinctive sound with particular stability in the lower register, and a full two-octave range using fingering similar to the Baroque system. They are equally at home in Renaissance consort playing and early Baroque repertoire, and are well regarded among serious early music players for their balance, projection, and authenticity.
This soprano is a two-section instrument in what appears to be either stained maple or plumwood — both are standard Kynseker woods and the coloring on this one could reasonably be either. It plays at modern pitch and is in outstanding condition with no cosmetic wear worth noting. It comes in a hardshell case with green interior bearing the Mollenhauer logo — current Kynseker sopranos ship with a leather bag, so this case likely reflects an earlier packaging era or a period Mollenhauer accessory case. Either way it's a meaningful upgrade in protection.
