Martin Style A Flat Back Mandolin 1968 with Gig Bag - Used
This 1968 Martin Style A is a beautiful example of American craftsmanship from a legendary era of Nazareth, Pennsylvania production. Martin mandolins are celebrated for their sweet, woody resonance and impeccable build quality, and this mahogany-bodied flat back design is no exception. It delivers a warm, balanced tone with a delicate top-end shimmer that makes it perfect for folk, old-time, or classical playing.
This instrument is in fantastic shape and has clearly been cherished and well-maintained over the decades. The finish is remarkably clean, with only a few small dings and a light scratch on the top next to the bridge. Most importantly, it plays with very low, comfortable action across the entire rosewood fingerboard, making it a joy to play for long sessions without hand fatigue. Minor fret wear that does not impact playability.
The Style A features a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, a combination that has aged gracefully to produce a rich, harmonically complex voice. It remains structurally sound with a tight bridge and stable tuners, ensuring it is ready for many more years of music. This instrument includes a basic gig bag for portable protection.
