Eastman MDO305 Octave Mandolin – Natural Satin – Upgraded Tuners , Gig Bag– Excellent
The octave mandolin occupies a wonderful and sometimes overlooked corner of the mandolin family — tuned an octave below standard mandolin, it brings a fuller, richer voice that sits beautifully in Celtic sessions, folk ensembles, mandolin orchestras, and singer-songwriter settings where you want something with more body and warmth than a standard mando. Eastman's MDO305 is one of the most respected instruments at its price point in the category, and for good reason. All-solid construction throughout — a hand-carved solid spruce top over solid maple back and sides — gives it the resonance and projection that laminate instruments can't touch. The A-style body with S-holes delivers a clear, articulate tone with good chop and excellent note definition, while the 21" scale and ebony fingerboard make it surprisingly comfortable and easy to play for players coming from guitar or standard mandolin. Eastman's build quality and attention to detail consistently outpace the price tag, which is exactly why players seek them out.
This one came to us originally as a new instrument, was purchased here, well cared for, and traded back in after a few months of light play — so we know its history firsthand. It's in nearly new condition throughout and has been upgraded with Grover tuners, which are a meaningful step up from the stock hardware and add smooth, reliable tuning stability. We checked it out through the shop and it's ready to go.
