Gunter Korber Tenor Rauschpfeife - Used
The rauschpfeife is a Renaissance-era capped double-reed woodwind — think of it as a louder, conical-bore cousin of the crumhorn, with a windcap that encloses the reed so the player never touches it directly. Günter Körber was a Berlin-based instrument maker who produced some of the finest modern reproductions of Renaissance wind instruments from the mid-20th century onward, and his instruments are highly regarded in the early music community. They are no longer in production, which makes finding one in playable condition genuinely worthwhile for any early music enthusiast or consort player.
This tenor is built from what appears to be maple and plays at modern pitch (A=440). The windcap is in good condition and a plastic reed is included. There are a few small spots on the body that appear to be drops of dried clear varnish — visible on close inspection but not structurally significant. Otherwise the instrument shows only minor signs of use and is in Very Good shape overall. No case included.
Condition is Very Good.
