Ibanez Japan 5-String Resonator Banjo w/ Hard Case – Used
This 5-string resonator banjo is a fantastic example of the quality produced during Japan's "golden age" of instrument manufacturing. Often referred to as "Masterclones," these Ibanez instruments from the 1970s and early 80s are renowned for their exceptional build quality and ability to compete with much more expensive American-made counterparts.
While most resonator banjos are known for a sharp, aggressive "snap," this particular unit has a remarkably sweet and mellow voice. It is highly resonant but avoids being overly shrill, making it an incredibly musical instrument that is difficult to put down. It features high-quality planetary tuners and a sliding 5th string capo, which allows for quick and easy key changes without the need for railroad spikes.
The banjo has been professionally set up in our shop and is playing great with comfortable action. It is a solid, well-built instrument that truly punches above its pay grade. It includes a hardshell case for secure storage and transport.
