Stol Guitars Single Cut – Flamed Maple / 100-Year-Old Mahogany with Gibson Gig Bag– Excellent
Stol Guitars is a small boutique operation out of Guilford, Connecticut, built by luthier Mark Stoleson — a one-man shop with a straightforward philosophy: build guitars with the same passion for music as the people who play them. Every Stol is made from carefully selected tonewoods, built by hand, and spec'd for players who know what they want. This single cut is a serious piece of work. The body is constructed from 100-year-old mahogany — aged tonewood that brings a depth and resonance you simply can't fake — topped and backed with gorgeous flamed maple. The 3/32" ebony peghead veneer, abalone inlays, and Gibson Deluxe tuners give it a refinement that matches the quality of the build underneath. At 9 lbs 9 oz it has real substance and sustain to back it up.
The pickup selection is equally considered. The neck carries a Lollar Staple P-90 — based on the original 1950s Gibson staple design, it delivers more air and articulation than a standard P-90, with exceptional clarity and that woody, almost flute-like quality in the neck position that players chase for years. The bridge is a Lollar Hot Soap Bar, which brings the heat — fat, growling P-90 character with the output and presence to cut through anything. Together they cover a lot of ground, from warm and woody clean tones to snarling, driving rock. The scale length sits at 25.5", the neck profile runs close to an American Deluxe Stratocaster — comfortable and fast — and the body is generously sized, running about 1.5" larger than a standard LP, which contributes to the guitar's resonance and presence both plugged and unplugged. Rosewood fingerboard, medium jumbo frets, and the kind of fit and finish you'd expect from a builder who takes this seriously.
Condition is excellent — set up through our shop and playing beautifully.
