G&L ASAT Classic Custom Build – 2022 – Deluxe Hardshell Case, Case Candy, and COA – Used Very Good
Leo Fender founded G&L in 1980 after his time at Fender and Music Man, and the company has always positioned itself as the place where Leo's design philosophy continued to evolve without the constraints of a larger corporate structure. The ASAT Classic is the clearest expression of that lineage — a guitar that wears its Telecaster DNA openly while taking it in its own direction. This particular example is a custom build, made to order at the Fullerton factory rather than pulled from standard production, which means the spec sheet reflects deliberate choices rather than catalog defaults. The alder body in Sonic Blue is paired with a hard-rock maple neck in the G&L Slim C profile — a comfortable, fast-playing shape with a 9.5-inch radius fingerboard, medium jumbo frets, and a bone nut. The G&L ASAT Classic single-coil Alnico pickups in both neck and bridge positions are voiced with real warmth and clarity, giving you classic single-coil twang with a bit more depth and output than a vintage-style Tele pickup typically delivers. The boxed-steel bridge with six saddles is a Leo Fender design refinement over the traditional three-saddle Tele bridge, improving intonation accuracy across the board, and G&L locking tuners keep the guitar in tune reliably through aggressive playing. Front and rear body contours add genuine comfort that a flat-bodied Telecaster does not offer, and the 3-ply black/white/black pickguard with chrome knurled dome-top knobs and chrome hardware throughout rounds out a build that is both visually clean and thoughtfully specified.
This one has great vibes and a feel that is genuinely hard to put down once you pick it up — comfortable, balanced, and broken in in the best way, like an old worn pair of jeans or a favorite sweater. Structurally excellent with no fret wear. There are a few small cosmetic imperfections and some scratching on the pickguard, but nothing that detracts from how good this guitar feels in the hands. Comes complete with the deluxe hardshell case, all case candy, and the original certificate of authenticity with full custom build specifications.
