The Player II Modified Telecaster SH is Fender’s most thoughtfully upgraded take on the Telecaster platform available at this price point — a guitar that respects everything the Telecaster was while meaningfully expanding what it can do. The SH pickup configuration is the central upgrade: a Player II Modified humbucker at the neck delivers the warm, thick, articulate voice that the Tele neck position has always been capable of but rarely achieved with a single-coil, while a Player II Noiseless Tele single-coil at the bridge gives you all the classic Tele snap, twang, and bite without the 60-cycle noise that plagues vintage-spec single-coils on a loud stage. The push-pull coil split on the tone pot opens up the neck humbucker into a clean, glassy single-coil voice, effectively giving you a third distinct tonal character from the same controls. Three-way blade switching covers the full range. The alder body delivers the balanced, punchy Fender voice that has defined the Telecaster’s character for over seventy years, and the Modern C maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and rolled edges is immediately comfortable from the first chord. The 6-saddle string-through-body bridge with block brass saddles is a meaningful improvement over the vintage 3-saddle brass barrel arrangement — better intonation accuracy across all six strings without sacrificing the fundamental Tele bridge tone.
