Fiesta Red is one of Fender's most historically loaded color choices — introduced in the late 1950s as a custom color option, it was one of the rarest and most expensive Strats you could order at the time, and it has carried a special visual authority ever since. The Limited Edition Player II in Fiesta Red pairs that color with a mint green pickguard in a combination that is as period-correct and visually compelling. The chambered ash body is the engineering story that makes this guitar worth paying attention to beyond its looks — chambering reduces weight significantly while preserving the resonance and open, airy quality of ash, giving the guitar a light, lively character. The Modern C maple neck with slab rosewood fingerboard and 9.5-inch radius has smooth rolled edges that make it immediately comfortable from the first chord, and the 22 medium jumbo frets give it a slightly more modern feel than vintage spec without departing from what makes a Strat a Strat. Three Player Series Alnico V single-coil pickups deliver the full spectrum of classic Strat tone — glassy and chimey in the neck position, that unmistakable quacky in-between tone in positions two and four, and punchy and cutting at the bridge — with five-way switching to cover every stop along the way. ClassicGear tuners, 2-point tremolo, and satin urethane back of neck finish complete a guitar that is thoughtfully built and genuinely fun to play.
This one was purchased new here at Mill River Music a few months ago — the customer simply wasn't a Strat person, which is their loss and your gain.
