Fender American Standard Stratocaster 2001 – Original Hardshell Case – Used Very Good
The Stratocaster has been the defining electric guitar of popular music since Leo Fender introduced it in 1954, and the American Standard — or American Series as Fender briefly called it in the early 2000s — has been the benchmark production Strat for working players since its introduction in 1987. The 2001 example sits in a particularly well-regarded period of American Strat production. The rolled fingerboard edges introduced around this time give the neck a broken-in feel straight out of the case — smooth and comfortable in a way that takes years to develop on most instruments. The ash body delivers that classic bright, snappy Strat voice with a slightly more pronounced grain character than alder, and the modern C-shaped maple neck with maple fingerboard reinforces that brightness throughout. The Delta Tone pickup system is one of the more thoughtful refinements Fender made to the American series during this era — a higher-output bridge pickup paired with a no-load tone control for the middle and bridge positions that effectively removes the tone circuit from the signal path entirely and opens up the sound in a way that rewards players who know how to use it. The two-point synchronized tremolo with stainless steel saddles is stable and expressive, the Schaller/Fender deluxe tuners hold pitch reliably, and the five-way switching gives you all the classic Strat positions from glassy and clean to that iconic quacky in-between tone that no other guitar can replicate. All original hardware, electronics, and tuners throughout.
This one has a classic sunburst finish with maple neck and board — a combination that is bright, snappy, and quintessentially Stratocaster in every way. Just set up through our shop and playing beautifully. A few small dings here and there and some minor finish clouding on the fretboard dots — not much to report on a twenty-five year old American guitar that has clearly been played and appreciated. No real fret wear, nut and bridge in good shape, truss rod functioning perfectly. It has the classic look, classic feel, and all of the Stratiness one could ask for.
