Fender American Professional Jaguar – Candy Apple Red – 2017 – Excellent
The Jaguar has always been the outlier in the Fender family — the one with the cult following, the shorter scale, the chrome-laden offset body, and the reputation for attracting players who march to their own beat. When Fender folded it into the American Professional series in 2017, it was the first time the Jaguar had ever appeared in Fender's flagship American lineup, which says something about how seriously the platform had come to be taken. The updates were well chosen: Tim Shaw and Michael Frank-Braun's V-Mod single-coil pickups replaced the original dual-circuit electronics with something more direct and powerful, the simplified switching ditches the old rhythm circuit in favor of a straightforward paddle selector, and the redesigned bridge with brass Mustang saddles and screw-in tremolo arm addresses every stability complaint the vintage Jaguar ever had. The Deep-C neck profile feels substantial and comfortable — players who've spent time on Strats will feel right at home — and the 24" short scale keeps string tension relaxed and bending effortless. Candy Apple Red is one of those classic Fender colors that looks absolutely right on an offset body, and this one wears it beautifully.
This guitar has barely been played. The only sign of use is minor pickguard scratching — the kind that happens just from looking at it wrong. All original case candy is present and accounted with the original TSA molded case. We checked it out through the shop and it's ready to go.
