The Broadkaster name has been part of Gretsch's history since the 1930s, and when the company chose to revive it for the flagship of their center block lineup they did it with genuine intent. The G6609TG Players Edition is the result — a guitar built for the working performer who needs the warmth, resonance, and three-dimensional character of a Gretsch hollowbody without the feedback limitations that come with a fully hollow body at stage volumes. The laminated maple body with chambered spruce center block is the engineering solution that makes that possible: the hollow chambers on either side of the spruce block give the guitar an organic, airy resonance and a comfortably light weight, while the center block controls feedback and keeps the tone focused and articulate when the volume goes up. The USA-made Full'Tron pickups were designed by acclaimed pickup designer Tim Shaw specifically for this guitar — delivering the classic Gretsch chime, brilliance, and balance that players have always associated with the brand, but with a slightly more pronounced mid concentration and a distinctive snarl that gives this guitar more tonal muscle than a traditional Filter'Tron when you push it with overdrive or distortion. The full-spectrum sonic range these pickups offer is genuinely impressive — pristine clean sparkle at one end, controlled and articulate high-gain tone at the other, and everything in between handled with authority. The maple neck in standard U profile is comfortable and immediately natural in the hand, the ebony fingerboard with aged pearloid thumbnail inlays and Luminlay side dots runs 22 medium jumbo frets at a 12-inch radius, and the Graph Tech TUSQ nut, Anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge with pinned base, and Bigsby B7GP String-Thru vibrato complete a guitar that is as reliable as it is expressive. Gotoh locking tuners keep everything in tune through even aggressive Bigsby use. Gold hardware throughout. Made in Japan.
In Cadillac Green this guitar is a genuine stunner — deep, rich, and sophisticated in a way that very few production guitar finishes manage to be. It is an easy guitar to fall in love with, and we say that from experience having had it in the shop. The feel is incredible, the color is stunning, and it plays with the kind of effortless, confident quality that makes you want to stay on it. Set up and ready to go.
This one is in superb shape — light fret wear in first position and some very light scratches on the top near the treble side inner bout, both shown in the photos. Note that the pickguard is missing and is not in the case. All other case candy is included. The original hardshell case is in great shape.
