The Electromatic Double Jet is Gretsch's most accessible take on the iconic Duo Jet format — a chambered double-cutaway body with an arched maple top, a set maple neck, and the essential Gretsch voice at a working player's price point. The two-tone Firebird Red top with black back and sides is a classic Jet color combination that calls back directly to the early 1960s models that made the format famous, and it looks as good today as it did then. The chambered basswood body with maple top delivers the characteristic Gretsch blend of acoustic resonance and focused electric output, warm in the lows and articulate in the highs, with that natural compression and bloom that distinguishes a chambered instrument from a full solid body. The rosewood fingerboard with hump-block inlays, Anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge, and Bigsby B50 vibrato tailpiece complete a platform that is well-considered at every level.
This example has been meaningfully upgraded in two areas. The stock Black Top Filter'Trons have been replaced with a pair of TV Jones pickups — widely regarded as the gold standard of vintage Gretsch-voiced pickups, delivering classic Filter'Tron chime, warmth, and articulation with greater clarity and definition than the stock pickups offer. The tuners have been replaced with Grover locking units, which hold pitch reliably through Bigsby use and eliminate the tuning instability that stock Bigsby-equipped guitars can sometimes exhibit. Note that the original tuner screw holes are visible on the back of the headstock — shown in the photos and mentioned here for full transparency. Set up and playing great.
Condition is very good — superficial fret wear in first position, some buckle rash in the finish, and some minor surface scratching throughout that you cannot feel, only see. Nothing structural, nothing dramatic. The guitar looks great in red and presents nicely overall.
