Fender American Vintage '69 Telecaster Thinline –2012 –G&G Hard Case – Used Excellent
In 1969 Fender did something unexpected with the Telecaster — they routed out the mahogany body, added an f-hole, and created the Thinline. It was the first major design evolution of the original Telecaster platform, and what players discovered was that the semi-hollow construction gave the instrument a voice distinctly its own — less midrange density than a solid-body Tele, a wider and fuller neck pickup, a spikier and more complex bridge pickup, and an overall character that appealed to jazz players, blues players, and eventually a generation of indie and alternative musicians who found something irreplaceable in that combination of Telecaster twang and semi-hollow warmth. The American Vintage '69 Thinline was Fender's most faithful reissue of that instrument — built to period-correct specs with a semi-hollow mahogany body, gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, maple neck and fingerboard with a 7.25-inch radius and 21 vintage-style frets, American Vintage Telecaster single-coil pickups with alnico magnets, vintage-style three-saddle strings-through-body bridge with chrome barrel saddles, and vintage F-style tuning machines. The four-ply white pearloid pickguard, top hat switch tip, knurled chrome knobs, and black dot inlays are all period-correct details that add up to a guitar that looks and feels genuinely vintage without any of the compromises that come with a fifty-year-old instrument. Fender produced this model for only two years — 2012 and 2013 — which makes clean examples increasingly hard to find. The G&G hard case and complete case candy package — strap, cable, bridge cover, and six-saddle replacement bridge — are included in full.
This one is set up and ready to rock with all of the great vintage vibes these guitars are known for. No fret wear, everything in great shape throughout. There is one small ding near the low E tuner on the headstock and a few tiny finish impressions here and there — nothing dramatic, all shown in the photos. There is some minor discoloration on the bridge pickup flatwork — cosmetic only, no effect on tone or function. Presents beautifully in Olympic White.
