Epiphone ES-339 Pro – Ebony – Includes Original Hardshell Case – Used Very Good
The ES-339 is the answer to a question that a lot of players have been asking since Gibson introduced the ES-335 in 1958 — what if you kept the semi-hollow DNA, the center block construction, the warm resonant voice and bell-like tone, but made the body small enough that it didn't feel like wearing a coffee table on stage? The Epiphone ES-339 Pro delivers exactly that. The reduced-size laminated maple body with solid center block gives you all the feedback resistance and focused low end of a center-block semi-hollow in a package that sits comfortably against the body, balances naturally on a strap, and feels considerably more manageable than its full-size ES-335 sibling — much more friendly to a wide range of players and playing styles. The SlimTaper D-profile mahogany neck at 24.75-inch scale is fast and comfortable, the rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays and 12-inch radius is smooth and well-dressed, and the LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece keep the setup stable and the intonation accurate. The Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers are the tonal center — warm and full in the neck position, punchy and articulate at the bridge, with push-pull coil-splitting on both volume pots that opens up single-coil tones from the same guitar. Cream body and fingerboard binding, and all-black Ebony finish with nickel hardware give the whole instrument a sharp, understated presence.
This one plays well and sounds great — that compact semi-hollow voice is warm, resonant, and genuinely versatile from jazz to blues to rock. There are small scratches and honest play wear throughout consistent with a guitar that has been used and enjoyed. The reflector tops on the knobs are missing and the truss rod cover is absent — cosmetic details both, easily sourced and replaced. One tuner has been replaced with a well-matched unit. No fret wear. The original hardshell case is in good shape with some wear on the outside. No pickguard included.
