Epiphone Dot ES-335 – Sunburst – Made in Korea – 2000 – Very Good
The Korean-made Epiphone Dots from the late 1990s and early 2000s have developed a genuine following among players who know what to look for, and for good reason. Production moved to China after 2002, and the consensus among players who've owned both is that the Korean examples are simply better built — tighter construction, fuller sound, more resonant in the hand. This one is a 2000 model, right in that sweet spot, and it punches well above its price point. The sunburst finish is elegant and well-applied, the semi-hollow body gives it that warm, airy ES-335 character, and the set maple neck with rosewood fingerboard plays exactly as it should — smooth and fast. We set it up through our shop and it came out playing like butter. Plugged in, it delivers that classic semi-hollow tone: warm humbuckers, good note definition, and enough versatility to cover jazz, blues, classic rock, and everything in between.
Condition is very good — there are minor signs of play in the finish consistent with a well-loved instrument, but it presents really well and nothing detracts from the look or playability.
