Epiphone Chet Atkins SST Studio – Natural – Includes Hard Case – Used Very Good
The Chet Atkins SST is one of the most genuinely original acoustic-electric designs ever produced — conceived by Chet Atkins himself in collaboration with Gibson as a solution to a problem that had frustrated acoustic performers for decades. The standard acoustic-electric format requires a resonating chamber to produce acoustic volume, which means feedback at stage levels is an ongoing battle. Atkins's solution was elegant: a chambered body thin enough to be comfortable and feedback-resistant, topped with a solid spruce top, with all the acoustic voice coming entirely from an undersaddle transducer and active preamp rather than from acoustic resonance. The result is an instrument that plays like a slim, comfortable electric, sounds like a natural acoustic through a PA or amplifier, and produces virtually no feedback regardless of stage volume. Dave Matthews played one for years at the height of DMB's popularity, which tells you something about what serious performing players discovered when they found one. The Epiphone SST Studio brings that same fundamental concept — chambered mahogany body, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, active preamp — at a price point that made the design genuinely accessible. The Venetian cutaway gives comfortable access to the upper register, volume and EQ controls on the bass side shoulder keep everything within easy reach while playing, and the rear-mounted control plate houses the active preamp and battery. Gold hardware throughout. Set up and inspected in the USA.
This one is in superb shape — almost no wear, minuscule fret wear, and only the most minor signs of play. It presents beautifully in natural and plays great throughout. Comes with the hard case.
