The S2 McCarty 594 has always been the most direct route into the McCarty tonal universe at an accessible price point — the 24.594" scale length, Pattern Vintage neck, four-control layout, and push/pull coil splits that define the 594 format, built in Stevensville, Maryland on the same floor as the Core instruments. The 2024 update made the S2 McCarty 594 genuinely better in two meaningful ways. First, the pickups: the 58/15 LT humbuckers are now USA-made Maryland units rather than the imported pickups used in previous S2 production, bringing the pickup quality into alignment with what the Core McCarty 594 carries. Second, the tuners: the new Wing button design is lighter than the previous metal buttons, which subtracts less energy from the vibrating strings and contributes directly to sustain and resonance. These are not cosmetic changes — they are tonal ones, and players who have compared pre- and post-2024 S2s consistently note the difference.
The 58/15 LT pickups are low-wind humbuckers voiced for warm, clear, vintage PAF character — the kind of tone that sits in the sweet spot between transparency and depth, and that responds dynamically to picking attack and guitar volume in a way that higher-output pickups cannot. The push/pull coil splits on both tone controls add single-coil clarity to the full humbucking voice, and the three-way toggle gives you independent neck, bridge, and both-pickups access. Set up wonderfully and ready to shred. The Honey Gold Burst finish over the figured maple top is one of the stronger color options in the 2024 lineup — warm, rich, and deeply flattering on the figured top.
Condition is Very Good Plus with light play wear consistent with a lightly played instrument — nothing significant, nothing structural. Check the photos for specifics. Comes with the PRS gig bag.
