The American Deluxe Stratocaster Plus HSS is one of the more quietly innovative guitars Fender has produced in the modern era. On the surface it reads as a premium American Deluxe with all the expected appointments — compound radius rosewood fingerboard, N3 Noiseless pickups, locking tuners, stainless steel saddles. But the engineering underneath is genuinely novel: the entire electronics system is 100% solderless, built around interchangeable Personality Cards that allow the wiring configuration to be swapped without opening a soldering iron. Each card changes the pickup routing and switching behavior of the guitar in a different way — coil splits, series/parallel combinations, different tone stacking options — giving a single guitar a breadth of tonal options that would otherwise require multiple instruments or a full rewire. Fender only made this version for two years, and finding a clean example with its cards is increasingly difficult.
This one comes with the splitter module card installed, ready to go. The neck is exactly as described — very thin and fast, the kind of Modern C profile that gets out of the way immediately and rewards technique without asking you to fight the guitar to get there. The Mystic 3-Color Sunburst finish has that deep metallic sparkle that photographs never quite capture — it shifts under stage and studio light in a way that the standard sunburst simply does not. And tonally it delivers: resonant, with bell-like overtones that ring through clearly on clean settings and translate beautifully into breakup.
Condition is Very Good. There are a few small dings on the front of the guitar above the bridge — visible in the photos — and light finish checking is beginning to develop throughout the body, which is a cosmetic characteristic of the polyurethane finish as it ages and nothing that affects playability or tone. Check the photos carefully for the full picture on the wear. No case included.
