A rare and sup er vibey find from the Baldwin-era of Gretsch production, this 1966 Viking is a player’s piece with character and tone to match. Fully hollow and loaded with a set of original Super’Tron pickups, it delivers a smooth, warm sound that’s distinctively Gretsch — lush, mellow, and harmonically rich.
This one is playing well, set up with 11s and a working truss rod. Electronics are functional, though the “on” switch is a little sticky. The binding is beginning to deteriorate in several places, which is common for this era and model. The original string mute still functions but requires a little coaxing to seat fully back into the body. Cosmetically there are typical signs of age and play, but it’s structurally stable and ready to go for the right player or collector.
A sweet opportunity to grab a very cool Gretsch model with some rare and collectible features at a very fair price.
