The GNX1 was DigiTech's bold attempt to push past conventional amp modeling, and it largely succeeded. Built around dual AudioDNA DSP engines and DigiTech's GeNetX technology, it goes beyond simply selecting amp and cabinet models — it lets you "warp" the characteristics of two different amps and cabinets together to create a custom hybrid HyperModel, with the resonant frequency of the virtual cabinet itself tunable. Up to twelve effects can run simultaneously from a deep library covering modulation, pitch, filter, and time-based effects, alongside a built-in expression pedal, full MIDI implementation, and 48 factory plus 48 user preset slots. The Learn-A-Lick feature samples and slows down recorded phrases to a quarter speed without changing pitch, and a 30-pattern Rhythm Trainer rounds out the practice tools. A genuinely deep, hands-on processor from an era when DigiTech was pushing real innovation into the multi-effects space.
