Don't knock it for its ubiquity. The Boss DS-1 is a sleeper distortion pedal, and being around for as it has it's easily overlooked for newer, flashier pedals. But if you can dial the DS-1 in just right, it stands alone among other pedals for its individual sound. Crunchy and gritty and just might be the thing you're looking for!
