This vintage **La Boz drum set** is a rare example from the **Hoshino pre-Tama era**, made in Japan during the 1960s–early 1970s. These kits were produced under house brand names like La Boz and Star before Hoshino formally launched the Tama brand, and are known for their distinctive styling and warm, woody tone.
This set features a **White Marine Pearl wrap** and includes a **22" bass drum, 13" rack tom, a matching 14" snare**, and a **non-original 16" floor tom** made by **Ideal** (another MIJ brand from the same era). The **Ideal floor tom has a very similar wrap and features Sonor-style teardrop lugs**, offering a cool visual contrast while still blending in nicely with the rest of the kit.
All shells are **luan with reinforcing rings**, producing a warm, vintage tone with a soft attack. The kit includes its **original bass drum spurs and floor tom legs**. No other hardware is included.
Overall, this set is in **excellent condition** for its age. There is minor cosmetic wear consistent with vintage gear, but everything is structurally solid and tunes up well. A great find for collectors, players, or anyone looking for a vibey, vintage MIJ kit with character and musicality.
