This is a classic mid-1960s Ludwig 12-inch rack tom, a staple of the golden era of American drum manufacturing. Featuring the sought-after brass Keystone badge with serial number 384692, this drum dates to approximately 1966. Known for their warm, punchy, and highly musical tone, these 3-ply shells with reinforcement rings are the backbone of the vintage Ludwig sound heard on countless hit records.
The drum is in great structural shape, though it shows plenty of honest road wear. The original Blue Sparkle wrap has a fair amount of scuffs and scratches throughout, giving it a true vintage aesthetic. The hardware shows some pitting typical for an instrument of this age, but remains fully functional. It retains its original lugs and the iconic baseball bat muffler, which is in perfect working order. Please note that the hoops and tension rods have been replaced with modern equivalents to ensure stable tuning and performance.
This tom is ready to play right out of the box, as we have just installed a brand new Evans UV1 batter head and a G1 clear resonant head.
