The hallmarks are well documented: tight, void-free ply construction, clean bearing edges, and a resonant, focused maple tone that responds well across a wide tuning range. This unbadged 5x14 snare has all the physical characteristics of a Keller shell — the maple grain, the construction quality, and the clean snare bed cut that allows the wires to lay flat and respond evenly across the head.
At 5 inches deep with 8 lugs this is a versatile, all-purpose snare depth — enough body to project and cut in a band context, sensitive enough to respond cleanly at lower dynamics. The burgundy stain finish is clean and attractive, showing the maple grain naturally without a heavy lacquer coat. The bearing edges are very clean. Brand new Puresound snare wires are installed, which is a meaningful upgrade — Puresound makes some of the most responsive and even-sounding wires available and they transform the feel and sound of a snare significantly over stock wires.
The lugs, hoops, and hardware show some oxidation consistent with normal use and age. The shell has light scuffs and blemishes but presents well overall. A solid, great-sounding snare at an honest used price.
