Sire Marcus Miller V7 Bass, Sunburst, Gig Bag - Used
The Sire Marcus Miller V7 arrived and immediately upended the conversation about what a serious J-style bass could cost. Designed in direct collaboration with Marcus Miller — one of the most influential bassists alive, whose fingerprints are on decades of recordings from Miles Davis to David Sanborn to his own acclaimed solo work — the V7 is built around an alder body, a hard maple neck with rolled fingerboard edges, and the Marcus Super-J Revolution pickup set in '60s spacing. The 18-volt Marcus Heritage-3 preamp is the real centerpiece: three bands of EQ with a semi-parametric sweepable midrange, a passive tone control, and an active/passive mini-toggle that switches between the full preamp and a clean passive signal. The result is a bass that can honestly cover jazz, funk, R&B, and slap styles with real authority, and the V7 earns consistent praise from players who own one for exactly that reason.
This particular example carries something that puts it in a category of its own. Esperanza Spalding — Grammy Award-winning bassist, vocalist, and one of the most acclaimed jazz musicians of her generation — has signed the back of the headstock. The signature is clearly visible and authentically positioned. Whether you are a player or a collector, this is a detail that makes this specific instrument genuinely one of a kind.
Set up with nice low action and playing well. Very Good condition with minor play wear throughout — generally very clean. Check the photos carefully for the cosmetic specifics and the signature. Comes with the Sire gig bag and Sire leather strap.
