Rickenbacker 4001 Bass - Mapleglo - Used
This Rickenbacker 4001 in classic Mapleglo is quite simply the finest example of this era we have encountered. It is an exceptionally well-preserved instrument that looks nearly new, offering a rare opportunity for collectors and players to own a museum-grade piece of Rickenbacker history. Featuring the iconic "cresting wave" body shape, through-body neck construction, and the unmistakable punch and growl that defined the sound of progressive rock and fusion, this 4001 is an absolute standout.
The condition of this bass is remarkable. The Mapleglo finish is vibrant and clear, showing only very minor surface scratching on the back. The frets are in excellent condition with no visible wear, and the neck is straight and even, providing the fast, effortless playability these basses are famous for. There is some light pitting and aging on the output jack plate and a minor patina on the tuners; we have left this original patina intact, though it could be polished away if you prefer a mirror-like shine.
True to the original design, there is an extremely minor lifting at the back of the bridge—a characteristic inherent to the mechanical design of these vintage Rickenbacker bridges that does not affect the rock-solid playability or intonation of this specific unit. The original hardshell case is also in excellent condition, rounding out a truly world-class vintage package. Whether on a stand or in your hands, this bass is a total joy.
