Ibanez SR300EB Soundgear Bass – Black – Used Excellent
The SR series has been Ibanez's answer to the question of what a modern bass should feel like for over thirty years, and the SR300EB is one of the clearest expressions of that philosophy at an accessible price point. The nyatoh body is lightweight and resonant, shaped in Ibanez's distinctive slim double-cutaway profile that sits comfortably against the body and balances perfectly on a strap — no neck dive, no fatigue, just a bass that disappears while you play it. The five-piece maple and walnut neck is fast and stable, and the SR4 profile is one of the more comfortable neck shapes in production bass building — slim enough for speed, substantial enough to feel solid. The jatoba fingerboard runs a full 24 frets with medium frets and pearl dot inlays, giving you access to the full two-octave range on every string. At the heart of the electronics are two PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups — passive pickups with stainless steel pole pieces that deliver higher output and better high-frequency clarity than a standard humbucker without sacrificing low end. The Ibanez Custom 3-band EQ and 3-way Power Tap switch are where the tonal range really opens up — the switch moves between full humbucker mode for warmth and depth, single coil mode for punch and articulation, and Power Tap mode which combines single coil clarity with enhanced low end from the humbuckers. It is a genuinely versatile system that rewards players who take the time to explore it.
This one feels fantastic — the black satin finish is smooth and comfortable under the hand, and the bass is notably light and well-balanced, the kind of instrument you can wear for a full set without thinking about it. Plays great with no wear to speak of. There are a few small dings on the front near the thumb position that are there if you look for them but don't demand attention — shown in the photos.
