Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass - 1998 - Sunburst - Used
This 1998 Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass is a premier example of Fender’s high-end production from the late 90s. The American Deluxe series was designed to take the classic Jazz Bass platform and add modern refinements for the professional player. This particular bass is a fantastic player, featuring a slim and fast neck profile that has been professionally set up in our shop. It is currently strung with a high-quality set of flatwound strings, providing a smooth feel and a deep, punchy vintage thump that perfectly complements the active electronics.
Cosmetically, the bass is in very nice condition. It shows a few "bumps and bruises" consistent with a well-loved instrument that has been played but cared for over the last 25+ years. There are no major dings, finish chips, or structural issues to note. The active 3-band EQ and Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups (or Suhr-designed units depending on the specific build month) allow for a massive range of tonal shaping, from modern slap clarity to warm, fingerstyle growl.
This bass features the downsized body shape and top-loading or string-through-body bridge options typical of the era, providing excellent balance and sustain. It has been thoroughly inspected and is in great health, with a functional truss rod and clean electronics. Included with the bass is a high-quality, Fender-branded G&G hardshell case with a classic tweed exterior and plush interior.
