Mesa's Triple Crown TC-50 channels the spirit of the company's iconic Dual Rectifier into a 3-channel, EL-34-powered platform that runs the gamut from bubbly, sparkling cleans to tight aggressive crunch to some of the most harmonically rich high-gain tones Mesa's ever offered. Each channel — Clean, Lo Gain, and Hi Gain — features its own 2-position mode switch alongside independent Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Presence, rear-panel Reverb, and Master controls, and a handy bias switch lets you swap between EL-34, 6L6, or 6V6 power tubes to dial in your preferred flavor of punch. Round things out with a footswitchable all-tube spring reverb, a buffered tube effects loop, full MIDI switching with 256 program locations, and Mesa's CabClone D.I. for mic-free recording or live use, and you've got a head that covers an enormous amount of tonal ground in one chassis.
Everything on this one works great — all three channels and their modes, the reverb, the MIDI-capable footswitch, and the effects loop all function as they should, with no issues to report. It was tested through an Ampeg cabinet and sounds excellent. Cosmetically, it shows minimal wear for its age, nothing that affects playability. Per the seller, the Lo Gain channel is a particular highlight, with a feel reminiscent of an Ibanez Tube Screamer — a great pick for players who want serious tonal range, from clean to high-gain, in a single hand-wired head.
