The Express 5:50 Plus is Mesa Boogie's two-channel, four-mode all-tube head built and handcrafted in Petaluma, California. Two 6L6 power tubes and five 12AX7 preamp tubes drive a circuit with two fully independent channels — Channel 1 covers Clean and Crunch modes, Channel 2 covers Blues and Burn modes — each with independent Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Reverb, and Master controls. The Plus update added Mesa's patented Multi-Watt Channel Assignable power switching, giving each channel its own selectable output level between 5, 25, and 50 watts, covering everything from bedroom practice to club-level volume without sacrificing tube character at any setting. The 5-band graphic EQ from the Mark V is onboard with footswitchable assignment per channel, alongside a footswitchable Solo boost with adjustable level. All-tube long spring reverb with independent channel controls, series effects loop, and external switching jacks for channel, reverb, EQ, and solo round out a feature set that covers a serious range of playing styles and volume requirements in a single head. Fixed bias for consistent, maintenance-free performance.
