The Lone Star Special is Mesa/Boogie's EL-84-powered take on the acclaimed Lone Star platform, trading the standard Lone Star's 6L6 power section for a Class A, EL-84 design with channel-assignable Multi-Watt power, letting you dial in 5, 15, or 30 watts per channel. Channel 1 delivers boutique-style vintage clean and classic breakup tones, while Channel 2 can clone Channel 1's voicing or kick in an additional cascading high-gain circuit with its own dedicated drive control. This example comes loaded with a Black Shadow 1x12 speaker and includes a built-in cooling fan, a thoughtful touch that helps keep the amp and its vacuum tubes running cool during extended use.
Both channels are working great, and the drive circuits are functioning perfectly.
Cosmetically, the tolex covering and grille cloth are in excellent shape with just a normal amount of use, though there is some staining on the front white tolex; purely cosmetic and doesn't affect playability. A great option for players who want Mesa's boutique-style cascading gain and Class A EL-84 tone in a lightweight, road-friendly package.
