2025 Martin OM-28 – Natural – Fishman Infinity Matrix -Original Hardshell Case – Used Excellent
The OM-28 has been one of the most revered guitars in Martin's catalog since its introduction in 1929 — the Orchestra Model that defined the 14-fret neck join, balanced the intimacy of a smaller body with the projection of a long scale, and became the instrument of choice for fingerstylists, flatpickers, and recording musicians for nearly a century. The 2025 Standard Series refresh is the most significant update Martin has made to this lineup since 2018, and it is one that players and critics have received with genuine enthusiasm. The centerpiece of the refresh is Golden Era scalloped bracing — the same bracing pattern previously reserved for Martin's premium Modern Deluxe Series, now brought to the Standard Series for the first time. GE bracing has reduced mass and more precisely tuned damping nodes than standard scalloped bracing, delivering a more open, breathy, vintage-inspired response that players have been asking Martin to make standard for years. Alongside the bracing change comes a reimagined GE Modified Low Oval neck profile, a thinner fingerboard with beveled edges, an angled nut, a refined vintage-style heel, and a GE belly bridge with bone bridge pins — a comprehensive set of refinements that add up to a guitar that plays and sounds more like a great vintage Martin than anything in the Standard Series has before. Solid Sitka spruce top over solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard with Diamond and Squares inlays, herringbone purfling, antique white binding, multi-stripe Style 28 rosette, and nickel open-gear tuners complete the picture. These 2025 examples are genuinely exciting instruments — players who have spent time with the great vintage OMs are finding that the gap has closed considerably.
This one was purchased new here at Mill River Music and has come back as a trade-in toward a new guitar. We installed a Fishman Infinity Matrix pickup system and a strap pin at the heel — two meaningful upgrades that add stage-ready functionality without altering the instrument's acoustic character in any way. The action is set just below factory spec and the saddle has its full life ahead of it, which means that the neck angle is excellent and bodes well for the long term health and playability of this one. It sounds fantastic and plays beautifully, with the tonal complexity and vintage warmth that makes the 2025 redesign so compelling. The most superficial signs of play and nothing else — it presents very close to new. Note: in the photo of the side of the instrument there are some reflections, they are not marks or blemishes in the finish.
