For sale is a 1951 Martin 000-18 Flat Top Acoustic with replacement Martin Hard case in good playing condition. The Serial number traces this somewhere to early 1951 production in Nazareth, PA. Beautiful natural lacquer finish, solid mahogany back and sides, solid spruce top, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, bone nut and saddle and a dry, rich and nuanced voice signature to a smaller-body vintage Martin. Understated aesthetic, massive tone and playability that substantiates its legendary reputation among experienced fingerpickers, songwriters and studio guns alike.
It has had one substantial repair (see photo) - a mahogany side panel was partially removed and replaced decades ago and has remained a stable, tasteful fix. There is one back crack (see photo) that was carefully cleated long ago, a couple top cracks carefully glued as well. The guitar was also professionally refretted within the last 5 years or so. Despite the repairs, the guitar feels very original and is generally a very clean example. The neck and top show very healthy geometry/structure overall with some room for adjustment in the saddle, action is at Martin spec. The price reflects these repairs and anyone who plays this guitar will fall in love. Included is a Martin replacement hardshell case.
