The OM body shape is one of the most musically balanced acoustic guitar formats ever designed — not as intimate as a 000, not as powerful as a dreadnought, but hitting a sweet spot of articulation, balance, and projection that makes it genuinely versatile across fingerstyle, flatpicking, and singer-songwriter work. Alvarez designed the MF60E specifically around what the OM can do when built correctly, and the Masterworks Series construction behind it reflects that intent at every step. The top is solid AAA Sitka spruce — the highest grade Alvarez uses — further enhanced by their Advanced Tonal Response torrefaction process that accelerates tonal maturity and improves resonance and stability. The FS6 forward-shifted bracing pattern keeps the OM’s characteristic fast response and round, open note quality while allowing more projection than a traditionally positioned brace pattern. Solid African mahogany back and sides add the warm, dry, focused midrange that mahogany is known for, and the all-solid construction means this guitar will continue to open up and develop tonally over years of play. East Indian rosewood fingerboard and bi-level rosewood bridge, bone nut and saddle, ebony bridge pins, herringbone body binding, premium mother-of-pearl inlays, and premium open-gear tuners at 20:1 give the guitar a refined, elegant appearance throughout. The LR Baggs HiFi system is the premium electronics choice on the Masterworks series — a dual bridge plate sensor design rather than a conventional single undersaddle element, delivering exceptional balance, definition, and dynamic response in an amplified setting that more faithfully captures the natural acoustic voice of the guitar.
This one is a winner — sounds incredible, with huge bass, real warmth, and impressive articulation across all six strings. Barely discernible fret wear in the first position that has no impact on playability whatsoever, minimal surface marks with nothing felt and nothing scratched. Plays great and looks great. Comes with the nice structured case.
