Martin HD-28V Vintage Series Dreadnought 2011 w/ OHSC – Used
The Martin HD-28V is a legendary member of the now-discontinued Vintage Series, widely considered one of the finest modern recreations of the "pre-war" Herringbone dreadnought. This 2011 model is a total "cannon"—a true banjo-killing bluegrass machine that outshines nearly every other 28-style guitar we’ve hosted in the shop. Built with a solid Sitka Spruce top featuring forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing and solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides, it delivers a massive, sophisticated low-end response and a complexity of tone that only a well-played Martin can provide.
This is a one-owner guitar, originally purchased at the famed Matt Umanov Guitars in NYC. It has been exceptionally well-cared for and includes the original hang tag. We have just performed a professional setup in our shop, and notably, the frets show no wear. As is common with many Martins of this era, the body bindings have already been professionally reglued by Martin-certified technicians, ensuring this guitar is structurally sound and ready for many decades of play.
Cosmetically, the guitar is in fantastic shape with a gorgeous vintage tint finish and a comfortable modified Soft V neck profile. There is one area of finish discoloration where your arm would rest while playing (please see photos); however, the finish remains perfectly smooth and glossy to the touch, with absolutely no structural or protective issues. Aside from that and minor signs of play and minor finish wear here and there, this is a pristine example of a top-tier Martin. It ships in its original deluxe hardshell case. It won't be easy to find a better sounding guitar at this price!
