Guild made guitars under the brand "Madeira" in the 1970s, intended as affordable student and entry-level guitars, and this guitar has held up throughout time!
This guitar plays comfortably with standard action up to the 7th/8th fret; it starts to get higher moving up, but still quite playable! As the action is about as low as it will go, but if you desire lower action, you could slot the bridge and bring the saddle down slightly.
Structurally, the guitar is in great shape. The top is nice and flat, with no cracks or repairs to be seen anywhere; the neck is straight and the truss rod moves and adjusts well. We note a bit of a cosmetic flaw under the high E string towards the nut at first fret that doesn't get in the way of playing, and some chips behind the neck (see photos). We love the grain of the fretboard's wood, and the classic "Maderia" logo!
Sonically, the guitar has the classic big Dreadnought sound, with boomy lows and sharp treble sounds! Come by the shop today to try out an incredible guitar from the "golden era" of Japanese guitars!
