Breedlove Steve Henderson Signature RD/R Acoustic Guitar - 1995 - Used
This 1995 Breedlove Steve Henderson Signature RD/R is a rare and stunning example of the innovation that defined the early, sought-after years of Breedlove Guitars. Bearing serial number 95-003, this instrument was crafted during the era when co-founder Steve Henderson was personally overseeing production, representing the high-water mark for the company's "Early Period" craftsmanship. This RD/R model features a master-grade Redwood top paired with Solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides, a tonewood combination prized for its immediate responsiveness and complex, harmonic-rich sustain.
Tonal characteristics of this early Breedlove are exceptional, offering a huge bass and mid-bass response that remains sweet and warm throughout the register. The construction includes a mahogany neck, an ebony fretboard and bridge, and premium bone for the nut and saddle. Elegant aesthetic touches include wood binding, a bound soundhole, and a beautiful abalone rosette. As with many early Breedloves, this guitar utilizes the Bridge Truss system, which relieves tension on the top to allow for maximum vibration and resonance.
This guitar is in excellent shape for its age. While there are some minor dings on the mahogany neck, the frets show very little wear and the instrument is professionally set up and ready for the stage or studio. It is worth noting that the onboard pickup currently has low output and is considered "tired"—it would likely need service or replacement if you intend to perform plugged-in. The guitar includes its original Breedlove arched hardshell case.
