Blueridge BR-140CE Historic Series Cutaway Dreadnought – Natural – Fishman Presys Blend – Includes Road Runner Hard Case – Used Excellent
The Historic Series is Blueridge's most earnest tribute to the pre-war American dreadnought tradition — guitars designed and built to the construction principles that defined the great Martins of the 1930s and 1940s, at a price that makes those principles accessible to working players rather than just collectors. The BR-140CE adds a single Venetian cutaway and the Fishman Presys Blend electronics to the foundation of the BR-140, creating a guitar that moves seamlessly from the living room to the stage without compromise. The solid Sitka spruce top with amber tint and forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing is the tonal engine — the forward shifting replicates the pre-war Martin practice that gave those guitars their characteristic bloom and sustain, and the amber tint gives the top a warmth and vintage character that plain gloss simply cannot match. Solid mahogany back and sides deliver the warm, focused, woody voice that has made the spruce-mahogany combination the enduring standard for acoustic dreadnought building. The East Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, slim low-profile mahogany neck with traditional dovetail joint, rosewood headplate with elaborate mother-of-pearl inlay, Dalmatian tortoise pickguard, and vintage-style nickel open-back tuners with butterbean buttons all reflect the pre-war aesthetic that Blueridge built this series around. The Fishman Presys Blend is one of the more fully featured onboard electronics systems available at any price — 3-band EQ, notch and phase filters, onboard tuner, and a microphone blend control that allows you to mix the natural acoustic voice of the guitar into the signal for a richer, more organic amplified tone.
This one sounds great and plays beautifully with the action set to a comfortable medium — easily adjusted up or down to suit any playing style. Minimal fret wear in the first position and basic signs of play are the full condition story. One corner of the pickguard is lifting slightly — a common issue on guitars of this type that can easily be re-glued or trimmed, and we note it here for full transparency. Comes with a Road Runner hard case.
