Doff Guitars is a small luthier workshop based in St. Petersburg, Russia, producing all-solid classical and folk instruments that consistently punch above their price point. The 017 is their parlor-size classical model — a compact, intimate instrument in the romantic guitar tradition, smaller in body than a full-size classical but full in voice, with a solid Caucasian spruce top over solid maple back and sides that gives it a bright, clear, focused tone with excellent note separation. The wooden cut-in rosette is a Doff hallmark and gives these guitars a handcrafted visual character that stands apart from factory instruments. These are genuinely well-made pieces.
Worth noting for buyers: Doff is currently unable to export instruments to the US due to trade sanctions on Russia, with no timeline for resumption. What is already here is what exists, and finding one in solid playable shape is becoming increasingly difficult. This one is set up and playing, with clean cosmetics and nothing significant to call out.
