Giannini Serie Classica GWNCPPM/7 Handcrafted 7-String Classical Acoustic-Electric – Includes Original Hardshell Case – Used Very Good
Giannini is Brazil's oldest and most respected guitar manufacturer, founded in São Paulo in 1900 and responsible for some of the finest nylon-string instruments produced in the Southern Hemisphere. The violão de sete cordas — the Brazilian 7-string classical guitar — is a uniquely important instrument in Brazilian music, central to the choro tradition and increasingly embraced by jazz and fusion players around the world who have discovered what the added low B string can do for harmonic depth and bass register coverage. The GWNCPPM/7 is the top of Giannini's handcrafted lineup — an all-solid instrument built to professional standards that is extremely difficult to find outside of Brazil, and genuinely rare in any condition in the North American market. The solid red cedar top delivers the warm, immediate, touch-sensitive response that cedar is known for — faster to open up than spruce, richer in the midrange, and beautifully voiced for the fingerstyle technique that both classical and choro playing demand. Solid mahogany back and sides add warmth, sustain, and a balanced low-end definition that supports the extended bass register the seventh string provides. The ebony fingerboard is smooth and beautifully finished, the reinforced neck with adjustable truss rod is a practical departure from traditional classical construction that keeps the instrument stable and playable across climate changes, and the thin cutaway body gives comfortable access to the upper register without sacrificing acoustic volume. The B-Band 4-band preamp with both standard quarter-inch and XLR outputs is a sophisticated and genuinely stage-ready electronics package — run mono or in stereo, with a tonal range that extends from warm and woody to present and articulate. Black and gold plated machine heads with pearl buttons, 648mm scale length, and 58mm nut width complete a guitar built for the serious player.
This one plays great and is set up really well with room to lower the action further if desired — the neck angle is good and the geometry is sound. No fret wear, and the ebony fingerboard is gorgeous. The back has several repaired cracks that have been stable for many years and present no structural issue — they are shown clearly in the photos and disclosed here fully. This guitar is priced accordingly to reflect that history, making it a genuine opportunity to own a top-of-the-line handcrafted Brazilian instrument at a considerably more accessible price. The cracks are wicked stable and this guitar has many years of playing life ahead of it.
