Cordoba has spent the better part of three decades doing one thing — making genuinely good classical guitars accessible to players who might otherwise be priced out of the tradition. The C4-CE is one of the clearest expressions of that mission. It is built on the foundation of a traditional Spanish classical guitar — fan bracing, nylon strings, bone nut and saddle, slotted headstock with gold tuners — and adds two meaningful departures from orthodoxy that open it up to a much wider range of players and playing situations. The first is a soft single cutaway that gives comfortable access to the upper register, a feature classical purists may debate but working players universally appreciate. The second is a Fishman Sonitone active pickup system with soundhole-mounted controls, which means this guitar can go from quiet practice to a live stage or studio session without breaking a sweat. The solid African mahogany top is the tonal centerpiece — warmer and rounder than a spruce top, with a richness and immediacy that suits fingerstyle playing beautifully and gives the instrument a vocal, expressive quality that rewards nuanced technique. Mahogany back and sides reinforce that warmth and balance the overall voice with good sustain and even response across the full range. The thin C-shaped mahogany neck with pau ferro fingerboard and bridge is comfortable and fast, with a 2-inch nut width that is noticeably narrower than a traditional classical neck — a deliberate choice that makes the C4-CE accessible to players coming from steel-string backgrounds who find the wider classical nut intimidating. Maple binding, abalone rosette, and the striking Edgeburst satin finish give the whole instrument a premium visual presence that belies its price point.
This one is a really sweet player that sounds fantastic and punches well above its price point — hard to find a better package for the money. Set up well with plenty of saddle remaining, nut in good shape, electronics sounding great. Looks nearly new with only the most minor signs of play and some barely perceptible small impressions on the neck that you cannot feel. Comes with a nice hard case.
