2023 Taylor 414ce-R Custom – Tobacco Sunburst – Victorian Inlays – Includes Original Hardshell Case – Used Excellent
The 414ce has long been one of Taylor's most balanced and versatile instruments — a Grand Auditorium body that sits in the sweet spot between intimate and powerful, equally at home under a fingerpicker's touch or a strummer's attack, and one of the clearest expressions of what Taylor's V-Class bracing system can do for a spruce and rosewood guitar. The Custom version released as a Guitar Center exclusive in 2023 takes that already strong platform and dresses it with two meaningful upgrades. The Tobacco Sunburst top is a warm, richly shaded finish that adds visual depth and character to the standard gloss body, and the engraved Victorian fretboard inlays — intricate, elegantly detailed, and matched by a coordinating peghead inlay — give the guitar a genuinely distinctive appearance that sets it apart from anything in the standard Taylor lineup. These are not cosmetic changes for their own sake; on a guitar this well-made they feel like the finishing touch a great instrument deserves. Underneath it all the core specs are exactly what the 414ce-R is known for: solid Sitka spruce over solid Indian rosewood, V-Class bracing delivering the enhanced sustain, volume, and remarkable across-the-board intonation that Taylor developed the system to achieve, a West African ebony fingerboard on a tropical mahogany neck with satin finish, Taylor ES2 electronics for stage-ready performance, and the Venetian cutaway that keeps the upper register fully accessible. White binding, grained ivoroid, tortoise pickguard, and gold tuners round out a build that is beautiful from every angle.
Just set up and given a clean bill of health by our Taylor-certified technicians. One small ding on the top and a few minor signs of play are the entire condition story. The inlays and color are genuinely gorgeous in person. Not much between this and buying new, at a meaningful discount.
