The dreadnought body delivers the full, powerful projection that the format was built for — big and resonant, equally at home strumming hard in a band context or fingerpicking quietly in a living room. The solid Sitka spruce top is the real engine of the sound, providing that broad dynamic range and clear, defined response that spruce is known for, and the layered Indian rosewood back and sides add the warmth and complexity that make the spruce/rosewood combination one of the most enduring pairings in acoustic guitar building. The forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing opens up the low end and gives the top room to breathe, which keeps the sound from getting compressed or boxed-in even when you dig in hard. The mahogany neck with standard carve profile is comfortable and fast, the ebony fingerboard is smooth and responsive, and the 15-inch radius keeps things easy across the full range. The Venetian cutaway gives you clean access to the upper register, and the ES2 electronics — Taylor's own behind-the-saddle pickup system — deliver a natural, transparent amplified tone that holds up on a stage without sounding processed or plastic. White binding, dot inlays, tortoise pickguard, and a clean satin finish on the back and sides complete an instrument that is well-considered from end to end.
