The double neck acoustic-electric is one of the most practical tools a performing guitarist can have — two complete instruments in one, switchable on the fly, without the awkward mid-song guitar swap that has derailed more than a few live moments. Ovation designed the CSD225 Celebrity Double Neck from the ground up as a performance instrument, and the engineering decisions reflect that clearly. The super-shallow Lyrachord composite bowl keeps the guitar light and feedback-resistant on a loud stage, the multi-soundhole epaulet design enhances projection and string vibration in a way that a single soundhole cannot, and the quintad bracing pattern optimizes the spruce top for balanced, clear resonance across both registers. The two slim, fast nato necks — 6-string on top, 12-string on the bottom — each feature bound rosewood fingerboards over aluminum-channel neck cores that provide exceptional stability and warp resistance, a genuinely smart engineering choice that makes these necks play consistently regardless of climate or conditions. The OP-24+ preamp with 3-band EQ, selectable mid frequency, and Pre-Shape circuit handles amplification with elegance, and the 3-way toggle allows seamless switching between the 6-string, the 12-string, or both simultaneously. Dual cutaways give comfortable access to the upper register on both necks. In Red Burst with gold hardware this guitar looks every bit as dramatic on stage as it sounds.
This one is in superb shape — minimal wear, presents beautifully, both necks playing great with no fret wear, nuts and saddles in excellent condition. Electronics fully functioning, toggle switching cleanly between all three positions. Includes additional saddle shims in the case for custom action adjustments.
