This 1950 Gibson L-48 is a fantastic vintage archtop with a warm, woody voice and wonderful playability. It delivers that classic Gibson acoustic archtop tone, perfect for jazz comping, blues, or roots music. Having just been professionally set up (as of October 2025), this guitar plays great and sounds fantastic right out of the case.
For an instrument over 70 years old, it is in Very Good condition. The fret wear is modest considering its age; there are some divots closer to the nut, but the frets have lots of life left and the guitar plays cleanly. There is a small hairline crack (about 2.5") on the side in the lower bass bout, which has been professionally glued, buffed, and is completely stable. The original finish is generally in good condition but shows some expected signs of a life well-played, including a touch of belt rash on the back and a couple of small damaged spots on the back of the neck. The tuner buttons appear to have been replaced. This is a solid, great-sounding vintage Gibson ready for many more years of music. It includes a non-original hardshell case.
